How to initiate a phone call in Japanese…もしもし、~ともうしますが

Pronunciation
もしもし、Tony ともうしますが (moshi moshi, Tony to moushi masu ga)

Meaning
“Hello, my name is Tony”

In England or USA, it is very common to call someone without introducing yourself. You would probably say “Can I talk to ~” as soon as someone answers the phone.
However, this is considered rude in Japan.
Start from this phrase before saying something else when you call some body.

Additional Pronunciation

もしもし、Tony です (moshi moshi, Tony desu)

“Hi this is Tony” (You expect the other party already knows you). This is less formal compare to the other one.

Substitute “Tony” with your name and you are ready to make a phone call in Japanese!!
